We all know that lip gloss in general doesn’t last as long as a matte lipstick does on our lips. There are of course cons to a matte lipstick compared to a gloss, with the number one factor being dryness. However, we still want to have some of the longevity of a liquid lipstick, when we apply our favorite gloss.
Although gloss is a product that moves around and can easily come off if we eat or drink something, these 3 steps can help you keep it on a little longer!
- First, before applying any kind of gloss, make sure to exfoliate your lips with a lip scrub. A DIY version of this would be scrubbing your lips with a toothbrush to get rid of the excess dryness and flakiness. Just a side note, don’t scrub too hard where you puncture your skin, because that can defeat the purpose and make it worse! Lightly brush to eliminate dead skin. Pat dry before you apply your gloss. This will make the gloss adhere to the lips, rather than getting clumpy on the chapped skin and having to be wiped off. Yuck!
- Next, to make the gloss last longer, a pro tip is to apply a similar shade lipliner all over the lips, (very lightly) and blend out with your finger, so it does not change the shade of the gloss. This becomes a glue for the gloss, almost like a primer, to keep the color in tact. A little side note, Formless Beauty glosses have so much high shine infused in each application, that the sparkle will linger even if the gloss needs reapplying!
- Lastly, there is a trick I love doing, no matter what lip product I am using. However, it does WONDERS, especially with gloss! Gloss is already shiny and beautiful, but imagine emphasizing that even more? A trick I love to use is highlighting the cupid’s bow with my favorite highlighter, (can be a powder or liquid highlighter) before applying the gloss! This adds an extra dimension to the lips, by not only adding the extra glow that will outlast the gloss, but also by making the upper lip look more plump! This illusion will make your lips look like you still have glossy lips, even between applications!
