Whether you are in your early 20s or your late 50’s, hooded eyes are always a struggle when it comes to shadow application. Hooded eyes refers to an excess skin, or fold over the eyelid that covers most of the lid. Now this is not the same as droopy eyes, because hooded eyes are simply due to genetics, and overall form of an eye shape.
Here are some tips on how to get the most out of your shadows with your hooded eye shape:
- Invest in a good primer to keep the shadows in place, because once you apply a shadow and open your eyes, the shadow is likely to transfer. When you use a good base, it will keep most of the product in place.
- Carve out brows that give the illusion of bigger eyes as much as possible, such as raising the tips of the brows a bit higher. In other words, give your brows a nice lift!
- Open your eyes and look straight into a mirror when applying shadows so you can see where the shadow placement should extend to, in order for the shadow to be visible.
- Avoid using dark shades as your base. This will help avoid making your eyes look heavy. Instead, apply light shades like Bare from our Bronzed Beauty palette as your base and highlight the brow bone and inner corner of the eyes with a shimmer shade, such as Glisten.
- Apply darker shades such as Elevate from the Bronzed Beauty palette to the outer corners to enhance the eyes and give them a lifted illusion.
- Avoid heavy eyelashes.
